Fantasy Map Patterns by Arcandio Fantasy Map Patterns by Arcandio
Ladies and Gentlemen. I present: Map Patterns for the Realm. Please feel free to use them, so long as you credit me.

Included are 11 patterns that you can set to Multiply or Darken to add a little flavor to your D&D maps. There are two versions of the aquatic pattern, one black on white, the other white on black.

To use these, simply copy and past the file into the Photoshop > Presets > Patterns file. Then you can load them into photoshop by selecting Edit > Presets Manager > Patterns > Load. The Patterns will then be available for use in PS!

Please note that these were created in Photoshop CS2, so they may not be backwards compatible.

Enjoy!

[edit] it works this time. -.-

[edit edit] *12monthsOFwinter tells me that these even work for Elements v4. Hurray!

Thank you very much, they look very nice! What format are they in? The point is, I don't use PhotoShop, thus I prefer PNGs. If they are PSDs, I could try to convert them.

Thanks for uploading! While I'm looking at several resources at the moment, I'm considering using this for a course at Full Sail University. I'll let you know if I end up using it or not and link you to to the final product.

I enjoy D&D map making and have been forced to do most of it by hand (with limited success). This will be pretty helpful. Thanks.

I prefer good old-fashioned hand drawn maps in a book full of grid paper. Gives it a dedicated and creative fell to the game.

Cool! I've always wanted a pattern or brush like this. All i can say is that it's too big. it'd be cooler if they were smaller so i don't have to make my maps like 10 feet long

Well, You can actually change the scale of the pattern in the pattern dialog box for the layer. I made them big so people could make them smaller and still have them look good. (They look carpy if you size them up too much)

Yeah, I did them as brushes first, but decided to turn them into patterns so that can turn out a map in a quarter of an hour. I have to do about a hundred, so I need to be able to do them fast and with very little memory usage. I'm glad you liked them. They look great!

Well, patterns seem great for that, but with my maps the patterns always ended up in the wrong spot....

GRRG!!
*kicks it several times*

It doesnt seem to want to differentiate between the .pat file which is what I'm trying to upload for people and the stupid preview. Maybe if I shrink the preview so it wont resize, it'll figure it out.

Well, From what I can tell, When I upload a *.pat file, it works normally. but when I try downloading it, it seems to have changed the .pat to .psd. I'll try uploading as a zip next...
